PROCEEDS

How are the proceeds of this Lottery used?

The Canadian Cancer Society dedicates 100% of the net proceeds from its main lottery to research into all types of cancer, benefiting people all across Ontario. The proceeds from the 50/50 Raffle support the Cancer Information Helpline, providing support and information to those affected by cancer. Proceeds from the Cash for Kids Calendar Lottery are dedicated to funding research into childhood cancers.

What percentage of Lottery proceeds goes towards cancer research?

Our lotteries generate millions of dollars for cancer research, yet the program pays for itself without using donor dollars. The costs to run the lottery, including all promotion and prizes, comes from ticket sales, not donations. While each lottery is slightly different, depending on the amount of the prize pool and other costs, on average 30% of the gross revenue from our campaign goes to fund our research projects.
